What is an Application for Permission to Change Status of Residence?

This is the procedure for changing from your current Status of Residence to a different one.
It is required when your job duties or activities change.

[Cases Requiring an Application]
・When changing from "Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services" to "Specified Skilled Worker"
・When engaging in work not permitted under your current Status of Residence
If your activities change, you must confirm this in advance.

[Application Process]
Applications are submitted to the Immigration Services Agency of Japan.
You may begin activities under the new Status of Residence only after the application has been reviewed and approved.
*You may not start the new job before receiving approval.
